Luckiefun's is the king of sushi buffets

Until a few decades ago, sushi was a delicacy for a few in Helsinki. Today, eating sushi has become a popular trend. Luckiefun’s is a family restaurant in Sörnäinen, originally founded in the mid-1990s. Luckiefun’s story started in Sörnäinen

It was year 1996, when it was decided to set up a family restaurant called Hong Fu in Sörnäinen. At that time, Helsinki’s restaurant offer was simpler and there was no sushi buffets. Restaurants came and went but one thing was clear: Luckiefun’s future was yet to come. The actual upheaval came in 2015. At that time, the family’s long-standing restaurant needed a successor. The mother of the family no longer had the opportunity to run the place completely alone and younger skills from within the family were needed to help.

At the time, 24-year-old Luckie Bao had mostly assisted in the restaurant’s kitchen and had no intention of entering the restaurant business. However, he decided to agree, but the restaurant in Sörnäinen would need a total image renewal. Phoenixes, dragons, and other Chinese-style decorations would be replaced with a more contemporary as well as more modern look. The biggest change was the menu.Bao only wanted to offer Japanese sushi in the future. So the name also changed and the well-known Luckiefun’s was born.

The small family restaurant became a massive sushi buffet chain

Today, Luckiefun’s restaurant is familiar to many Finns. Sörnäinen’s small family restaurant grew into a massive chain of more than 20 restaurants. Luckie Bao has progressed really fast from one level to another. He expanded Sörnäinen’s first restaurant and established the next place on Myyrmann in Vantaa and on Fredrikinkatu. Today, people want exotic restaurant experiences as well as food. Luckie Bao hit just the right golden vein as the sushi boom was just up.
